Mosque is a place of community worship in Islam where Muslims perform ritual prayers. The mosque is also a house of administration of justice and place of religious preachment and a centre for the association of community. Immam and Mouzzans are the two important revered functionaries of the Mosque. Imam acts as a supervisor and guide. The mouzzans appointed at a mosque to call the faithful to prayer for every prayer in the mosque. They dedicate their entire life in the service of the mosque committedly.The only source of their earnings is the meagre salaries paid by the Mutawallies and Masjid committees. In spite of having enjoying such an esteemed position in the community, Imam and Mouzzans have been facing financial deprivation and facing difficulty to live with dignity in the society. ( ref GO)
Keeping in view of the financial plight and sombre conditions of the Imams and the Mouzzans, the Telangana State Government ordered for giving Grant-in-Aid to Waqf Board to give Financial Aid to Needy Imams and Mouzzans of the mosques by way of small honorarium of Rs. 1,000/- per month to the Imams and Mouzzans. The Government Have allocated an amount of Rs.(12.00) Crores for the purpose during the financial year 2015-16 vide G.O.Rt.No. 117, Minorities Welfare (OP & Budget) Department, dated 07.07.2015. The Director, Minorities Welfare and the Chief Executive Officer, Telangana State Waqf Board have submitted guidelines for identification and sanction of the honorarium to the Imams and Mouzzans and procedure for payment and the guidelines and procedure are hereby approved as follows for identification and payment of honorarium by the Waqf Board to the Imam and Mouzzans:- ( ref GO)
